Bond set at $600,000 in Ohio rock throwing
July 02, 2009 12:49 PM

CINCINNATI
A Cincinnati man charged in rock throwing that left a woman seriously injured has been returned to jail after a judge set bond at $600,000.

Eighteen-year-old Joseph Burdine surrendered Wednesday night after police issued an arrest warrant, and he was in court Thursday on a charge of felonious assault. Police accuse Burdine and a juvenile of tossing rocks from a hillside onto cars on a main thoroughfare below.

One rock struck a taxi in which Joyce Baresel was a passenger. The 23-year-old woman from suburban Batavia suffered multiple skull fractures and nerve damage when she was hit by a baseball-sized rock June 14, and she spent six days in a hospital.

A 16-year-old boy is being held without bond at a juvenile detention center pending a July 13 hearing.
